My opinion about Blogsome
June 22, 2005Blogsome has been a nice and excellent free wordpress’ weblog. Even though it’s better than blogger, I will have to give my opinions about this. For the admin, don’t get upset if you read this. Take this as something you need to build and change.
Yesterday when I was browsing through Blogsome Forum, I was searching for the Previous and Next entry tags but I didn’t find it. Well, my opinions about the forum itself are:
- The first thing I thought when I was browsing through its forum was that the administrators themselves don’t really seem to have an obsession to help the users
- They don’t even reply the questions on the forum
- They don’t seem to fix the problems.
- They don’t sound enthousiast of developing Blogsome itself. Otherwise they’d have helped the users and fixed the problem.
As all the blogsome users probably already knew, the WP php Tags on this blogsome are very different than the original PHP tags which I have seen in my real WP blogs. Don’t think I am a newbie to weblog’s world if you just see my archives and first weblog’s post. I’m a newbie on Blogsome, but not in the weblog’s world. Why don’t you, at least, develop your Blogsome’s wiki more and give the list of Blogsome WP tags there?
Users probably care if you tell them you’re busy. But not all of the users agree. Look at another web developers, the forums and how they develop the weblog’s tool. Users have always been a number one priority, they are so friendly to help them till the problems are fixed.
But this?!? Come on! Please answer what the users have asked on your forum, they haven’t gotten your replies. Don’t tell me you are lazy. If you don’t support the users, how can the users support you?

Wat i like about is that you can categorize your post. but for me, blogger is still the most convenient.

I’ve been wanting to use wordpress but I’m too lazy. What more it looks damm complicated! To me at least. I’m an I.T. nut.
Might need your expertise one day.

Blogsome is excellent! you may try it out. the templates are according to me, not so difficult as my wp. I only don’t know the new tags and don’t find the list

I totally agree with your post about the Blogsome forum, I mean sure they time and time again tell users to search forums first. Fine we do that still with no luck and what do we get after? Still no help. Seems such a lack of motivation from it’s staff on their forum.
Having said that though, blogsome is a good host for Wordpress system minus the “next and previous” post tags. Which I’ve posted about quite a few times already and with no luck… and no reply at all for that matter.

Your points are noted and I agree except to the point that we lack enthusiasm.
We are trying to balance the work that pays our rent etc and blogsome which we do because we like it. However anytime we do get to work on blogsome is spent on keeping the software and servers working. We have over 15,000 blogs on the go now and it makes things very busy and costly. We are currently trying to hire more people - and among there tasks will be Blogsome support. It is not easy when there is only 3 of us (and I don’t have an IT background), and we have many other sites to keep running.

only 3 ?!? I hope there will be new people to help you :) yeps, it’s not easy, but i was thinking there were few more people who develop this blogsome as there’s no information about the developers themselves. So far I read, you opened blogsome since november last year and u already got 15.000 blogs? That’s amazing how people find out about blogsome and of course … it’s more difficult to develop it more, the more users u have u really have to get more people to help you :)
